Welcome to Explore Booksellers

Some of our most loyal customers are regular Aspen vacationers and their reactions upon returning to Explore after being away for several months are especially rewarding. First, there is the expression of familiarity... Explore remains the store they remember--a favorite place unlike any other in the world. We appreciate those sentiments. After all, that's the reason we bought the business when its future seemed uncertain--to ensure it remains the venerable Aspen institution it has been for over 30 years.

Their second reaction, however, is equally appreciated... Yes, Explore Booksellers is the same, but with some great new additions. There is a coffee shop; a rare book section; a beautiful new room for author events (or relaxing in an over-stuffed chair); a shaded outdoor patio; plus more events and community partnerships than ever. In fact during peak summer and winter seasons, we have book signings by nationally prominent authors almost every day.

And above the bookstore is our brand new restaurant, Escape, featuring gourmet veggie-centric fare.
